The Reservoir
Hyaluronic Acid
A hydration molecule that holds up to 1000× its weight in water.
What it is
In plain language
Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan that occurs naturally in the skin, eyes and connective tissue. Topical hyaluronic acid replenishes the moisture reservoir that depletes with age, weather and over-cleansing.
The science
How it actually works
Hyaluronic acid binds water within the extracellular matrix. Multi-weight formulations layer high-molecular-weight HA on the skin surface to reduce evaporation, while low-molecular-weight HA penetrates deeper layers to plump from within.

Frequently Asked
Your questions, answered
- Should I apply it to damp or dry skin?
- Always to damp skin. Hyaluronic acid draws moisture from its surroundings — applied to dry skin in dry climates it can pull moisture out of the deeper layers.
- Can I use it with retinol?
- Yes — it actually buffers retinol-related dryness beautifully.
- Does it replace a moisturiser?
- No. It holds water, but you still need a moisturiser or oil to seal it in.
